The following provides information to help leaders address common barriers staff identify to consuming the Work-Rite content.
1. "I'm too busy."
Response: The program only takes 10 minutes per week, and you have permission to do your learnings during work time. 10 mins a week helps improve your work experience, wellbeing and performance.
2. "I can't find time to do it."
Response: Let’s discuss with the team how we can work together to ensure everyone gets their learning completed each week. We all benefit when we support each other in making our wellbeing a priority.
3. "I don’t see the benefit."
Response: How do you know what the benefits are if you have not yet engaged with the learnings? The Lead & Work-Rite program is designed to support your wellbeing and workplace experience. We achieve the best results when we work together as a team.
4. "I don’t think the company should be doing this. I think we should spend the money elsewhere."
Response: It's okay to have your own opinions about company decisions, but when your CEO or leaders ask you to take part in a company-wide initiative, it's important to get involved. This is expected of all staff, and if you give it a try, you’ll likely find the program beneficial and worthwhile.
5. "I don’t use a computer, so I can’t access it."
Response: You can access Work-Rite on your phone, tablet, or desktop. Let’s see what we can do to get you set up so you can participate in a way that works for you.
6. "This won’t change anything."
Response: Beneficial change comes from collective effort. Work-Rite has already helped many teams feel happier, more connected, improve communication and overall workplace experience. Your participation contributes to making a difference.
7. "I don’t like online learning."
Response: The program is designed to be engaging, and easy to use. How about giving it a try and letting us know how it worked for you.
8. "Nobody else is doing it, so why should I?"
Response: If no one else was eating, would you stop too? We all play a part in creating a positive work environment. If no one makes the effort, how can things improve? By getting involved, you set an example for others and gain personal benefits—it's a win-win!
9. "I always forget to do it."
Response: Let’s set a reminder or pick a regular time each week to complete your learning. If you knew it would make you feel happier, would you give it a go? Let’s try a little experiment—commit to your learning for the next two months and see how it changes the way you feel!
10. "This feels like another task on my plate."
Response: Think of Work-Rite as an investment in yourself, not just another task. It’s designed to make work more enjoyable and rewarding. If you had a headache and took a painkiller to feel better, would that feel like just another chore? If completing your learning makes you feel better, would it still feel like just another task?
Encouraging engagement is about reinforcing the value of Work-Rite while addressing concerns with understanding and solutions. Keep the conversation positive, and remember that participation grows when leaders actively champion the program!
